ALERT: A NEW BEVERAGE TAX WOULD INCREASE THE PRICE OF SOME PRODUCTS BY UP TO 75%

A 2¢ per-ounce tax on the distribution of all beverages containing sugar would add $0.40 to the cost of a bottle of soda and nearly $3.00 to the cost of a 12-pack!

At a time when many San Franciscans confront a growing affordability gap—why is city government focused on a new beverage tax?

A 2¢ per-ounce tax on all sugar-sweetened beverages sold in San Francisco is now under consideration by the city government. This is not just a tax on soda. This is a tax on juice drinks, ice teas, powdered drinks, sports drinks, and hundreds of other beverages.

The last thing we need is a tax that makes it even more expensive to live and work in San Francisco. That’s why we’ve come together to form Stop Unfair Beverage Taxes—Coalition for an Affordable City.

Help us ask our city officials to stop driving up food and beverage prices and to start focusing on the issues that matter to San Franciscans.
